It's State Fair Time Again! We need your help!

It's that time of year again! Time for the Iowa State Fair! This is one of our biggest chances to get the word out about Northwest and our Alumni chapters!
We are seeking alumni and friends to volunteer to staff the Northwest Missouri State University booth at this year's fair. All volunteers will receive an Admission ticket and parking pass. Below you'll find the time slots open for volunteers. Please email brenda@nwmissouri.edu indicating which time slot you'd like to work (and a 2nd choice in case your slot is filled). Please include the names of everyone working, your mailing address so that we'll know where to mail your fair admission and parking passes and a phone number. We need two volunteers per time slot that is listed below. We are contacting everyone who worked the booth last year to give you first choice so sign up early. Slot sign-ups are on a first come, first served basis; so if someone beats you to your preferred slot we'll work with you to find another one that works!Thanks in advance for your help! Kansas City Chiefs Alumni Discount

The Kansas City Chiefs are offering some discounted ticket opportunities out to the Northwest Missouri State Alumni. They have a limited number of $250 & $390 Full season tickets located in an area originally priced at $590 and $780, respectively, that I would like to offer out. Below are the details. Bearcat Family Picnic

Pack a picnic and come enjoy a summer day outside with other Bearcats and their families! Kids can play in the playground and the beach will be open for swimming

When: Saturday, May 30th @ 1-5pm

Where: Raccoon River Park, West Des Moines, IA -- Coneflower Shelter C (park map: http://www.wdm-ia.com/Index.aspx?page=226)

Cost: FREE! Families should bring their own picnic food and drinks. A grill is provided at the shelter but tabletop or tailgate grills are also allowed.

Central Iowa Alumni Invited to Des Moines Hubbard Retirement Event

In honor of Dean and Aleta Hubbard’s 25 years of outstanding leadership at Northwest, a series of celebrations are being planned by the Northwest Foundation and the Northwest Alumni Association.

These invitation-only “Quarter Century of Quality” receptions, prior to Dr. Hubbard’s July 2009 retirement, will be in Mesa, Ariz. (Feb. 28), Des Moines, Iowa (March 20), St. Joseph (April 3) and Omaha, Neb. (May 28).

Alumni in Central Iowa are invited to attend the March 20th event at the Botanical Center and must RSVP by March 13th. The cost is $20 per person. Attire is dressy casual (sport coats for the men, dress or pants suit for the women).

In addition, celebrations open to the public will be held in Kansas City March 5 and on the Northwest campus April 23.

A black-tie gathering for a select group of Dr. and Mrs. Hubbard’s family and friends took place in October at Kansas City’s Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art in celebration of their distinguished years of service to Northwest.

In lieu of retirement gifts, Dr. and Mrs. Hubbard have requested contributions be made to the Aleta and Dean Hubbard Scholarship through the Northwest Foundation.

NWMSU Night @ The Iowa Energy

The Central Iowa Alumni & Friends Chapter of the Northwest Alumni Association will be holding an event at the Iowa Energy basketball game on April 1. Make plans today to meet other Bearcats at the game.

Come cheer on the Iowa Energy as they take on the LA Defenders. The Iowa Energy is the NBA development league affiliated with the Chicago Bulls and the Phoenix Suns so you're sure to see some great basketball action!

Also...it's $1 Beer Night at the Energy!
